You are using an out of date browser. It may not display this or other websites correctly. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. Thread starter Tek7 Start date Apr 11, Stay informed. List available here. Just as an FYI, you do realize that the backup utility will back up protected saves just fine, correct? Ultimately, there are two problems at work here.
Copy-protected files which I wouldn't personally boycott, but definitely something to be wary of and the lack of a "back-up only save files" option on the backup utility.
Keero Tribe of Judah Membership Administrator. Wait, what's the issue? Not sure what that thread is trying to say I can't plough through from the beginning again. Sony needs to fix it quick. Just allow all users to simply keep their saves in a safe place like a usb storage device.
It's pretty annoying to start again a game from the beginning just because stupid devs dont allow players to stay safe from hardware failure. Update your games so we can easily get our saves safe, please! I personally dont care about the complete data back up option, that save everything! That option is way too slow and way too boring. Please Sony hear my pray, force developers to use free saves copy! Do you think there could be risks associated with the Trophy system with saves.
For instance saving games prior to a trophy moment and sharing it?? This is the reason i haven't beaten Killzone 2 on the hardest difficulty. I just don't have it in me not with so many games coming out.
So i guess i'll just settle for whatever trophies i can get online. This is foolish though and Sony should stop it, specially considering they allow us to upgrade our HDD. It's even really the problem of back ups imo.
I dont see how couldnt anyone at capcom realise how stupid it is to lock the save file for a fighting game. Especially when unlocking characters are tied to it. So you can't even as usual go with your files at friends home with uncloked colors and characters , you got to unlock it first with all it's ludicrous specific character conditions and colors tied to the level of completion of time attack and survival modes I didnt know about lbp though. Streetfighter save lock made no sense to me.
Had to start unlocking every character again. Thats pissed me off the most. Luckily i have the old 60 upstairs. I hope something can be done about this.
Are locked too. Only my MP3s, pics, videos and most saved files were backed in utility. Spent hours re-downloading games for new PS3. I had a problem with this when I first switched hard drives. However, I found that after re-installing all of my back up data you need to go back in to account management and under activate system will be an option to activate a ps3 or a psp. I have never had a problem since then with any back ups. I have backed up and moved save states around on two systems both tied to my account and never had a problem.
I do not own a slim so I'm not sure if they changed something in the process there, but you know Sony always changing things around to suit themselves not the end user. I agree that saves should be linked with the PSN ID most are now , but for what isn't linked right now I am indifferent. If you happen to have one of the mentioned games and don't like your saves being locked, than complain to the developers on their forums or through email petitions to patch it, don't complain on some worthless blog that the devs most likely aren't going to bother to read.
Have to disagree with you there on a few points. That is unacceptable when they just have to lock the save to your ID itself and that would solve the problem. Yes, your trophies are all nice and safe in the servers; however, to get back to where you were before so you can finish getting those trophies, you have to start from scratch. This wasn't so much of a problem earlier in the lifespan of the console when there were not as many failures or people having to upgrade to another console for whatever reason.
While the blogs aren't necessarily somewhere the developers hang out and read This allows a larger majority of gamers to get together and possibly organize a group that can then go to the actual developer website, etc A larger group of paying voices has a larger impact than one or two starting a conversation on the developer's website. I do this that in this case it's because it was patched Wayyy after for trophy support that they locked the saves Unas Like I said I'm indifferent.
I respect your opinion though. Was I pissed? Hell, yes. It was at least to hours of work gone. Did I go back and try again? I've seen the ending s. I set some nice personal time records. I had fun. Same thing with my lost Motorstorm save or having to restart GTA4 after getting right up to the final mission and restarting because of the trophy patch.
When there is nothing more to gain from the save, it looses importance in keeping it around. Now for something your working on and haven't completed I can see being more of an issue and having more value to justify a backup. But again, worst case scenario if you loose the save and are forced to play again do you think with the knowledge you now have you'd do better and get back to where you were faster?
If that was so, wouldn't you be better off? After having to restart many games in the past for a variety of reasons I've become more of an optimist when it comes to loosing a save. I look at the "greener side" of having to replay a game. Thx in advanced. I personally have no problem with companies locking the game saves as long as they are movable from one console to the other.
There is no reason they should be locked to a particular console. It is frustrating to play a game for so long and and before you get to finish the game completely for a platinum I understand the need to protect the integrity of "gaming" per se by keeping the saves locked to one user; but this carries it to an unnecessary level and punishes the ones who actually have played the game legitimately to get to the level they are.
While I find it fine that you are only allowed to activate one PS3 for your video downloads, it is assinine that if your PS3 dies for whatever reason Improve this question.
How much is it worth for you to be sure your saved games are safe? YellowMegaMan that's a good question. From the list below, very few of my games are concerned, so I'm analyzing what to do now Add a comment. Active Oldest Votes.
