Remove dead server offline files
The second message pops up 'Confirm Remove Folder target; A folder target is associated with the replicated folder 'Documents'. What do you want to remove? Is this correct? Again, I have performed this in the past but I would like to see if there is a more safe way to accomplish this, as we have experienced data loss due to DFS randomly deleting data Please advise.
Thanks in advance. I am not removing a namespace server, I am removing folder targets and replication for one member. I'll have to log into one of our DFS to double check that. Your question is a little conflicting, it looked like you wanted to remove your file server from a namespace. If you just want to remove it from specific replicated folder, then you are correct. First, remove it from the DFS-Namespace and wait until the next day. Now, remove it from any DFS-Replication sets you have configured.
Verify the remaining topology as you remove each end point to ensure the remaining DFS-R members will talk to each other. Ok thanks; Yes - the namespace server that hosts the namespace is FS, which is not being touched. If you only have one namespace you could end up with issues. Not with what you are doing.
